Course Information
Course Overview
Reiki First Degree is the beginning of a deeply practical and personal journey into energy healing. This day-long training is designed to give you a clear, supportive foundation in Reiki — not just as a concept, but as a lived, usable practice you can take into everyday life.
At its heart, Reiki First Degree is about self-healing and personal empowerment. It offers you a way to calm your nervous system, reconnect with your body, and support your physical, emotional, and energetic wellbeing in a gentle, non-invasive way. From this grounded base, you’ll also learn how Reiki can be shared safely and informally with others, including friends, family, and animals.
You don’t need any prior experience, special abilities, or belief system to learn Reiki. Reiki is simple, natural, and accessible — and this course is taught in a way that is clear, ethical, and supportive, whether you are completely new or already working in a caring or therapeutic role.
What you’ll learn on the day
This is a full-day, in-person course running from 10am to 4pm, combining teaching, discussion, demonstration, and plenty of time for practice.
During the day, you will:
• Learn what Reiki is (and what it isn’t), and how it works
• Understand energy in a simple, grounded, and practical way
• Learn how to give Reiki to yourself as a regular self-care practice
• Learn how to share Reiki safely with others in a non-professional setting
• Explore Reiki for animals, plants, food, and spaces
• Receive your Reiki First Degree attunement
• Learn about Reiki lineage and why it matters
• Understand ethics, consent, boundaries, and safe practice
• Gain confidence in sensing and working with energy in a calm, embodied way
You’ll be guided step by step, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and go at a pace that feels right for you.
A Foundation for Those Who Wish To Continue
Reiki First Degree is the first step in the Reiki system. Some people are content to stay at this level for personal use for months or years, while others later choose to continue to Reiki Second Degree (Reiki 2).
This training provides a strong, ethical foundation should you wish to deepen your practice in the future — but there is no pressure or expectation to do so.
Your journey is your own.
Important Note on professional practice and insurance
Reiki First Degree is a foundational, non-professional level of training. While some students choose to continue their training and later obtain professional insurance, we cannot guarantee insurance eligibility, professional recognition, or acceptance by insurers or professional bodies. Reiki at this level is taught for personal use and informal support only.
What Is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a gentle system of energy healing that originated in Japan in the early 20th century with Mikao Usui. The word Reiki is often translated as universal life energy — the natural energy that flows through all living things.
Reiki works by supporting the body’s own ability to relax, rebalance, and restore itself. Rather than forcing change or diagnosing problems, Reiki creates a calm, supportive space in which the body and mind can do what they already know how to do.
Reiki is:
• Not a religion
• Not massage or physical manipulation
• Not a replacement for medical care
• Gentle, non-invasive, and safe
Self-Healing at the Core
Reiki First Degree places strong emphasis on working with yourself first. Many people are drawn to Reiki because they want a way to manage stress, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, or simply feel more grounded and connected.
This course gives you:
• A practical self-healing routine you can return to again and again
• A way to support your nervous system and emotional balance
• A deeper sense of trust in your body and intuition
• A gentle daily practice that fits real life
For many people, this truly does take self-care to a new level — not by adding pressure or routines, but by offering a calm, supportive way to listen to and care for yourself.
Supportive Work With Others and Animals
After Reiki First Degree, you’ll be able to share Reiki informally with friends, family, and animals, in an ethical and respectful way.
If you already work with people — for example in massage, bodywork, wellbeing, caring, or holistic roles — Reiki First Degree can enhance your presence, sensitivity, and energetic awareness, even though Reiki itself is not yet offered professionally at this level.
You will also learn how Reiki can be offered to animals, who often respond very naturally to this gentle form of support.
Certification & Ongoing Support
By completing this course, you will receive:
• Reiki First Degree Certification
• Certification recognised by the International Hypnotherapy Association and the IHPM
• A comprehensive printed training manual (included in the price)
• Your Reiki First Degree attunement
• Three group mentoring sessions after the course, offering continued guidance, integration, and support as you begin working with Reiki in daily life
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need any prior experience to attend?
No. This course is suitable for complete beginners. Reiki First Degree is designed as a clear, grounded introduction, and everything is taught step by step. No previous knowledge, spiritual background, or belief system is required.
Will I be able to practise Reiki professionally after this course?
No. Reiki First Degree is a foundational, non-professional level of training. It allows you to practise Reiki on yourself and share it informally with friends, family, and animals. Professional practice usually requires further training (such as Reiki Second Degree), experience, and insurance.
Is this a recognised qualification?
You will receive Reiki First Degree certification, recognised by the International Hypnotherapy Association and the IHPM. While some students go on to further training and later obtain insurance, we cannot guarantee professional recognition or insurance eligibility. There is more information about the accrediting organisations below.
What does the attunement involve?
An attunement is a gentle, guided process that opens your energy system to Reiki. Experiences vary — some people feel warmth, relaxation, or emotional release, while others notice more subtle shifts. There is no “right” way to experience it, and you will be fully supported throughout.
What if I feel I need more individual support?
Additional one-to-one support may be available separately, subject to availability and at an additional cost. This can be discussed if and when needed.
What should I wear or bring?
Please wear comfortable clothing that allows you to relax. Reiki is practised fully clothed. All training materials are provided. You may wish to bring a notebook, water bottle, and anything you need for comfort.
Refreshments
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided. You can bring your own lunch or we will have snacks like beans on toast and cheese sandwiches available to buy.
.
What happens during the three months of group mentoring?
Group mentoring offers shared guidance, integration support, and space for questions as you begin working with Reiki. Support is provided through in-person sessions in Halling and an online group. This is group-based support, not one-to-one therapy or 24/7 access.

Are there any terms and conditions?
